FAISALABAD: The Excise and Taxation Department Motor Vehicle Branch in a general holdup checked thousands of vehicles and found 227 owners guilty of tax evasion, as they had not paid the token tax.
The officials seized the documents of 158 vehicles, besides impounding 69 other vehicles in various police stations. Resultantly, the Excise and Taxation Department is expected to generate a revenue of Rs 0.9 million from the tax evaders, who will now have to pay the token tax as well as the penalty to get their vehicles and documents released.
