Faisalabad FIA arrests two accused for selling illegal SIMs

FAISALABAD: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has arrested two suspects allegedly involved in selling illegal mobile phone SIMs and activating the SIMs against CNICs of innocent people.

Sources told Customs Today that the FIA team comprising Assistant Director Legal Ch Mazhar Ullah, Taimoor Haider, Abid Hussain Gul (Sub-Inspector), Khalid Hameed, Abid (constable) raided Ghareebabad near post office Liaqatabad, Mainwali and arrested two brothers namely Anwar -ul- Haq and Mueen- ul-Haq and recovered 31 illegal mobile SIMs from them.

The authorities revealed that the illegal SIMs were used in different crimes, including terrorism, collecting extortion money, threatening peaceful citizens, contacting heirs of the kidnapped for extracting ransom and other criminal activities.

The FIA team registered a case No 48/16 against the accused persons under Electronic Telecommunication Ordinances 420/109 and sent them behind the bar. Further investigations are under way in this regard.
