Faisalabad I&I foils attempt to smuggle non duty paid ladies cloth worth Rs3m

FAISALABAD: The Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation has thwarted the smuggling attempt in Faisalabad by seizing foreign origin ladies suiting cloth worth Rs3 millions.

Sources told Customs Today that Director of Customs Intelligence and Investigation Adnan Akram received a tip off that huge quantity of smuggled ladies cloths will be transported. He immediately constituted anti-smuggling staff to prevent any attempt of smuggling from territory.

Customs anti-smuggling teams enhanced patrolling of different routes of Faisalabad to intercept them by deputing staff at entrance of different points for strict vigilance.

Anti-smuggling staff raided at truck adda of M/s Punjab Karachi Goods Transport Company Jhang Road and found lying there 11 bundle of Containing ladies suiting cloth during their action.

Customs teams asked munshi of truck adda who introduced himself as Basharat Ali Bhatti about legal documents but failed to produce any legal documents to justify its legal possession regarding the transportation of the recovered cloths.

Customs anti-smuggling teams seized said foreign Origin cloths under Customs Act 1969. Further investigations are still under process.
