Faisalabad I&I seizes smuggled clothes, tyres

FAISALABAD: Collectorate of Customs anti-smuggling squad seized smuggled foreign origin sofa curtain cloth and tyres worth Rs1.7 million involving duty and taxes of Rs9 million from Bed ford truck near Shahkot Toll Plaza Sheikhupura Road Faisalabad.

Sources told Customs Today, on Thursday that Collector Mubashir Baig after receiving information constituted a special team under the supervision of Intelligence Officer Irshad Ali to foil the smuggling bid and deployed it on Sheikhupura Road. The team on suspicion intercepted Bedford truck and recovered huge quantity of smuggled sofa curtain clothes 1645 kilogram and tyres.

Sources said that the smuggled clothes were being transported from Peshawar to Faisalabad through Sheikhupura Road. The Customs authorities shifted the confiscated items to warehouse and started raids on different localities after registering a case.
