Faisalabad I&I seizes smuggled goods worth Rs 33.5m during March

FAISALABAD: Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation (I&I) confiscated smuggled goods worth Rs 33.5 million during the month of March 2020.

Sources told Customs Today that after instructions of Director Customs Intelligence and Investigation Adnan Akram various raids were conducted to foil smuggling attempts in the region.

However five cases of smuggling were registered against suspects persons.

These special anti-smuggling squads raided in different areas of jurisdiction. Field Intelligence Unit FIU Mianwali and Sarai Muhajir during March and confiscated huge quantity of smuggled goods which includes foreign origin ladies cloth 1907 kilograms, Honda Civic car, foreign origin kerosene oil tanker bearing registration number TKL-760 loaded with 50000 diesel .

The customs has made confiscations under Section 156(1)89 and 90 ibid read with Section 3(1) (3) of the Import and Export Control Act 1969 after the owners failed to produce any document showing the legal import of the items.

The intelligence officers including Superintendent Muhammad Mubeen Intelligence Officer Muhammad Naseer, Muhammad Saleem Mansoor Nasir and other staff participated in the raids.

However seizure reports have been submitted to adjudication department for further legal action
