Faisalabad I&I seizes smuggled red chillies & vehicle worth Rs3.8m

FAISALABAD: The Customs Intelligence and Investigation seized foreign origin red chillies worth Rs 2.8 million involving duty and taxes to the tune of Rs 1.3 million. The I&I team also impounded Hino truck valued Rs 1 million during a special operation.

Sources told Customs Today that I&I staff on a tip-off formed team and intercepted a Hino truck bearing registration no: RPT-6056 near Ghalla Mandi loaded with smuggled red chillies. The truck was passing from Sheikhupura towards Ghalla Mandi Faisalabad.

The Customs Intelligence apprehended the smuggled commodity of red chillies. The total weight of the recovered red chillies from Hino truck was almost 11935 kilograms. The Customs officials also seized the trucks under section 157 (2) of Customs Act 1969.

Superintendent Muhammad Tahir Iqbal along with Intelligence Officers Mansoor Nasir and Mohsin Raza Shah conducted successful operation.
