FAISALABAD: The Motor Registration Authority (MRA) has issued show-cause notices to 5,500 vehicle owners in first 10 days of February. The owners of the vehicles were avoiding paying token taxes willfully.
Sources informed Customs Today that following the directions of Director General Muhammad Saeed Ahmad, MRA has constituted special recovery teams, which are operating in different areas of the city in order to take action against token tax defaulters. These special recovery teams also seized documents of token tax defaulter vehicles after issuing warning to clear outstanding dues at the earliest to avoid further legal action.
Sources said that authorities gears up their campaign against token tax defaulters to generate revenue to meet the set target of FY 2015-16.
