FAISALABAD: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Regional Tax Office Faisalabad has sealed as many as 700 brick kilns on non-payment of taxes for last four years.
Sources said that department has sealed the kilns as their owners were reluctant to pay the taxes, adding that all the kilns were also not registered with FBR.
They added that national kitty was facing Rs 5 billion lose due to the irresponsible behaviour of the non-taxpayers those were earning millions of rupees but avoiding to pay the taxes.
The FBR had directed all the brick kiln owners to pay tax at the rate of 17 percent on their sale to the government, but they did not follow the instruction; therefore, the kilns have been sealed, they added.
