FAISALABAD: A question mark as been put on the performance of the Regional Tax Office (RTO) Faisalabad, where the authorities concerned collected only Rs 193.01 million as tax, while the cost incurred during the collection process stands at Rs 527.2 million.

This negative progress comes despite the government’s tall claims of overcoming the financial constraints and making different public organisation efficient and profitable.

The figures were revealed in a report of the Tax Reform Commission. Faisalabad is the third largest city of the country and a hub of textile industry. The RTO gave a loss of Rs 334 million, speaking volumes of the negligence on part of the government, as the collectorate’s incurred cost was two times more than the collected money.
