Fate of VR No 886/2016 to be decided on August 31

KARACHI: A delegation of All Pakistan Garments Importers Association (APGIA) and clearing agents will meet Customs Valuation acting Director General Abdul Rasheed Shaikh on August 31.

During the meeting, the delegation will request the acting DG to amend the Valuation Ruling No. 886/2016.

As per details, the same delegation met to DG Abdul Rasheed Shaikh last Friday and expressed its concern over the increased values of the imported garments.

After meeting with the delegation, the DG directed Customs Valuation Director Wasif Memon to compile a report regarding the valuation of imported garments and concerns shown by the delegation of the APGIA, and submit it till August 30.

Now, the delegation will meet to DG on August 31 when fate of the Valuation Ruling No 886/2016 to be decided in the meeting.

It is pertinent to note that the delegation also held a meeting with Advisor to PM on Revenue Haroon Akhtar Khan here on last Wednesday on higher customs values for garments fixed by the Customs Valuation department. Haroon Akhtar Khan directed the department to settle the matter as soon as possible.
