FBR accuses Bol of importing machinery, equipment illegally, issues notice

KARACHI: Federal Board of Revenue’s (FBR) Directorate of Intelligence and Investigation (I&I) has issued a notice to Axact’s TV channel Bol for ‘illegally’ importing machinery and other equipment.

The notice sought receipts and other documents related to the import of all the goods as it said that import duty and taxes were also not paid by Axact’s channel.

The Axact scandal came to light when the New York Times published an investigative report claiming that the Pakistani IT company had made millions selling fake degrees online.

Following the NYT story, Pakistan authorities were quick to act as Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan ordered the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to launch a probe into the fake degree scandal.
