FBR activates 40-B act to nab tax evaders in Sialkot, Gujranwala

SIALKOT: Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) promulgated 40-B act to achieve target in Gujranwala and Sialkot regions. Both regions have started working under this act and set raids on various shops including sweets and bakeries with higher sale. FBR promulgated this act to achieve revenue target of Rs five billion during the month of January.

According to details, Gujranwala and Sialkot regions teams conducted survey of various confectioneries and bakeries and found that the shopkeepers are earning millions of rupees per month but they are not paying sales tax. FBR took immediate action in this survey report and promulgated 40-B to nab the tax evaders.

Sources told Customs Today that Chief Commissioners of both regions implemented upon the orders and constituted teams which have started raids on the offending shops. The teams are collecting sales tax from shopkeepers according to routine sales. Sources told that the teams are checking the sales and production of said shops and also checking all the financial matters of shops.

Chief Commissioner Regional Tax Office (RTO) Sialkot Imran Raza Kazmi said that RTO has constituted teams to collect sales and other taxes. He said that the both regions have collected more than Rs. 5 billion from tax evaders during raids.

Deputy Commissioner Regional Tax Office (RTO) Gujranwala Muhammad Ali told that RTO implemented the instructions of FBR and appointed officers on the above said shops adding that the RTO has prepared a list of big sweets and bakeries and the officers will raids with teams on said shops to collect taxes.
