ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has asked the federal government to start investigation from a supplier who supplied the donkey-hides to a Lahore based exporter company, Irshad Tanneries.

Sources said that the Irshad Tanneries exported over 10,000 donkey-hides to Hong Kong, China during last two years. The FBR tried to know the supplier’s name from the exporter but it denied, the sources said, adding that due to not having authority, the FBR could not investigate the matter more.

The FBR has asked the govt to find the accused supplier to know where he has disposed of the donkey meat, as there is strong believe that meat has been sold in markets as edible product.

The Customs Today was also informed that owners of the Irshad Tanneries were striving to end the ban on export of donkey hides, while the ban could only be lifted by the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC).
