LAHORE: Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) officers will have to seek prior permission from the FBR chairman and members in order to raid any factory, industry and shop, according to a letter issued by Senate of Pakistan.
The letter said that with reference to the meeting of Senate Standing Committee on Finance and Revenue held on 27th April 2017 in Parliament House, Islamabad wherein it was decided and recommended that in future no raid would be conducted by the FBR officials without the permission of chairman FBR or a Member concerned at any industry, factory or shop holder who are taxpayers filers.
The letter said that it was worth mentioning here that any FBR officer along with the large number of security personnel enters into the premises of tax filer for threatening or harassing without the permission of chairman of member FBR will be considered as raid.
Moreover if any such action is taken place by the FBR officers, the affected party has to complain to chairman FBR, under intimation to this office, along with all the evidence.
Therefore it is requested to all concerned that paying of taxes is our national duty but the harassment and threats from the concerned authorities and non-cooperation of the taxpayers is also an illegal act.
