FBR Chairman Dr Irshad may get extension until June 30

KARACHI: The Federal government has decided to extend the tenure of Chairman Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Dr Muhammad Irshad.

According to the source, Finance Minister Ishaq Dar has decided to give extension to Dr Muhammad Irshad as Acting Chairman of the FBR for another two months.

The FBR is facing difficulty in meeting up the given target. On the other hand, it is not possible to appoint new FBR chairman as very short period is left for the upcoming financial budget, the source informed.

Preparation of the federal budget and meeting up the given revenue target are the main issues due to which the finance minister has decided to extend the tenure of Dr Muhammad Irshad until June 30, the source reveled.

Due to the Panama Case the official are already busy in conducting the meetings and the time is very limited to pick and choose new Chairman FBR as the financial budget has to be prepared which is main hurdle, said the source.

The notification for extending the tenure of the Dr Muhammad Irshad as Chairman Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) is expected to be issued in two to three days.

Extending the tenure of the Dr Muhammad Irshad as Chairman Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) for further two months is the best choice for the federal government to cope up with all the issues faced by them, added source.
