FBR Chairman Jahanzaib Khan to review revenue collection measures in Karachi today

ISLAMABAD: Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Chairman Dr. Jehanzeb Khan will visit Karachi on Saturday, 16th March (today) to review efforts being made towards broadening of tax base, curbing sales tax evasion, audit of withholding taxes and clearance audit of containers.

Official sources told Customs Today that FBR chairman will meet chief collectors, chief commissioners and other officials, business community, chambers of commerce and industry. He will also visit FPCCI, head office Karachi to discuss their recommendations for the upcoming budget and other related matters.

During his stay, FBR chairman will also visit Large Taxpayers Unit to observe revenue collection and the new Broadening of Tax Base initiative where Karachi contributes an important chunk of Federal Revenue; therefore LTU and RTOs need to work on war footing to achieve the tax collection target and the revenue collection process enters its last phase of the year so tax officers should maintain the momentum till the objective is achieved.

It is important to mention here that the purpose to hold meetings is to generate more revenue to meet the financial target set for Fiscal Year 2018-2019. FBR Chairman is taking every possible measure to generate revenues.
