FBR Chairman Nisar calls meeting of chief commissioners, commissioners on March 17

ISLAMABAD: Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Chairman Nisar Muhammad Khan has called a meeting on March 17 at the FBR headquarters to discuss ways and means to expand tax net.

Chief commissioners and commissioners of Broadening of Tax Base (BTB), a wing of the FBR, will attend the meeting and present their suggestions and recommendations to bring non-taxpayers into tax net. Different approaches will also be reviewed for trapping the traders those will not take benefits from recently announced tax amnesty scheme.

The meeting has been called to discuss the strategy for achieving the target of enhancing tax base during the current fiscal year. Talking to Customs Today, a responsible official said that non-taxpayers will have to face the actions, adding that FBR has ethical and legal right to bring the non-compliance to table.
