FBR Chairman Nisar expresses resolve to meet Rs 3,104b revenue target

ISLAMABAD: Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Chairman Nisar Muhammad khan has said that the board was on his way to positively meet the revenue target of running fiscal year 2015-16.

The FBR chairman informed the 7th meeting of the Economic Advisory Council (EAC) held here on Tuesday.

On the occasion he said that the FBR was on track to achieve the revenue target of Rs.3,104 billion set for 2015-16. He added that t the government would continue the policy of eliminating concessionary SROs in the next budget.

It is important to mention here that the FBR collected Rs 1836 billion during up to March 7 of current fiscal year, witnessing an increase of 19 percent over collection of same period of the last year. The revenue collection during the same period last fiscal year (2014-15), stood at Rs 1547 billion.

In order to facilitate the taxpayers, the government has also made the tax filing system easy for the tax-filers adding that now onward the national identity card has been made the national tax number (NTN) for the individual tax filers. However, for companies, the FBR would be providing the NTN number to facilitate timely filing and collection of taxes.
