FBR chairman Nisar to ask Dar to revise revenue collection target

KARACHI: Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Chairman Nisar Mohammad Khan has decided to approach Federal Finance Minister Ishaq Dar in order to revise the revenue collection target given by the federal government for the year 2016-17, it is learnt here.

Sources informed Customs Today that the chairman has decided to meet with Dar in this regard in next week. The sources disclosed that the chairman would ask the federal finance minister to review the revenue collection target for the current fiscal year so that the trade could not be affected.

It may be mentioned here that the federal government has set a revenue collection target of Rs3.6trillion during the current FY2016-17, which was termed as “un-realistic” one by the Senate body on Finance.

It is pertinent to mention here that the Chairman of Senate Standing Committee on Finance Saleem Mandviwala was stated the chairman FBR that the recent revenue collection target for the FY2016-17 is an un-realistic one and termed it an extra burden on tax-payers.

In the light of the recent meeting, the FBR high-ups have decided to approach with the federal government in connection with reviewing the revenue collection target for the Fiscal Year2016-17.

Replying to a query, the sources further revealed that the federal government may revise the revenue collection target during the meeting with the FBR authorities concerned, as it is also determined to give some sigh of relief to the tax-payers.
