FBR chairman Pasha to personally hear appeals of suspended appraiser, inspectors

ISLAMABAD: Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Chairman Tariq Mehmood Pasha will hear final appeals in corruption cases against seven customs officials including appraiser and inspectors of the Customs Collectorate of Quetta.

The officials were suspended on the charges of corruption, misconduct and misuse of powers and government resources and the investigation reports found them guilty of inefficiency and misconduct. The authorities imposed major penalty, including removal from service and compulsory retirement upon them.

These officials included Principle Appraiser Qaiser Khan Loni, Inspector Muhammad Akram, Inspector Musa Khan Awan, Inspector Faiz Muhammad, Inspector Muhammad Zakriya, Inspector Haji Zahir Ali and Inspector Zaman Mazari. These officers were awarded with major penalties.

These all officials been appealed to Member Administration Federal Board of Revenue but after hearing they have failed to  prove innocence and found guilty and their appeals were rejected.

After this they were appealed to chairman Federal Board of Revenue, which is the highest and last forum and chairman has decided to give them last chance to prove their innocence and allowed their appeals for personal hearings.

If they failed to satisfy Chairman FBR, than, their punishment of compulsory retirement from the service will retain, but it is chairman authority that he may convert major penalty into minor penalty.
