ISLAMABAD: The Sales Tax Officers Association has asked the newly-appointed FBR Chairperson Nausheen Amjad Javed to intervene and direct the departmental committee to formulate recommendations of the longstanding career related issues of sales tax officers immediately and submit them to her for necessary action.

The demand was made during a meeting of CEC of Sales Tax Officers Association (STOAP), headed by its President Raza Ashfaq Sheikh. The STOAP welcomed Ms Nausheen Amjad Javed on her appointment as Chairperson FBR and expressed the hope that under her leadership, the FBR would certainly achieve its targets. They asked Nausheen Amjad Javed to help resolve the long outstanding career-related issues of officers of sales tax pending with a committee comprising Member-IR(Operations), Member (Admn.), Member-IR (Policy) and Chief-IR (Management). The committee was constituted to formulate recommendations to address the grievances of officers of sales tax within two months ie Sept 17, 2019. The committee held two meetings of FBR and STOAP committee on July 18 and August 2, 2019. Despite provision of all desired information/record (verbal and in writing) by the STOAP, the committee neither formulated nor submitted recommendations to the FBR chairman for redressal. Moreover, a steering committee for re-structuring of FBR was constituted on 18.12.2019 wherein Raza Ashfaq Sheikh, President STOAP, was included as a member to represent all cadres of sales tax. Ashfaq submitted detailed proposals on behalf of officers, but again nothing has so far been done on these proposals. Against this backdrop, the STOAP has asked the new FBR chairperson to take personal interest by directing the FBR’s committee to quickly formulate pending recommendations and submit them before for necessary action.
