FBR chief directed to submit correct report of amnesty scheme of vehicle

ISLAMABAD: The Finance Committee of the Senate has ordered the Chairman Federal Board of Revenue, Tariq Mehmood Pasha, that correct information in a report of the amnesty scheme of the vehicle should be produced before the committee meeting on Tuesday. The committee had observed a mistake in the briefing regarding the amnesty scheme for motor vehicles provided by the Federal Board of Revenue and sent back to the FBR for correction and clarification.

A meeting of the Standing Committee of the Senate on Finance, Revenue and Economic Affairs and Privatization will be held on 18th of July in the committee Room No: 1 on 18th of July 2017 at the Parliament House under the chairmanship of Senator Saleem Mandviwala.

Chairman FBR Tariq Mehmood Pasha and Member Operation Rehmat Ullah Wazir will brief the committee on the steps taken on the issue of gift arrangements by 2785 individuals through money laundering and on amnesty scheme for motor vehicle.

The Senate Committee will also be briefed on the recent amendments made in the Anti-Money Laundering Act and Combating Financing of Terrorism Regulations and Guidelines and on the alleged manipulation of share price of The Bank of Punjab in order to offload shares and take control of the bank due to 70 percent rights issues.

The committee will consider the bill of Financial Institution (Recovery of finances) Amendment Bill 2017 introduced by Senator Muhammad Azam Khan Sawati. The committee will also mull over the Protection of Economic Reforms Amendment Bill introduced by Senator Saleem Mandvi wala.

Federal Finance Minister Senator Muhammad Ishaq Dar, Senator Ilyas Ahmed Bilour, Senator Mohammad Mohsin Khan Leghari, Senator Ayesha Reza Farooq, Senator Muhammad Talha Mehmood, Senator Nasreen Jalil, Senator Kamal Aki Agha, Senator Mushahid Ullah Khan and Senator Sardar Fateh Muhammad Khan Hassani will attend the meeting.
