FBR chief’s decision lauded for upgrading posts of Sepoy & Hawaldar

ISLAMABAD: The customs formations officials of grade BS-5 and BS-7 appreciated the decision taken by Tariq Pasha, Chairman Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), for upgradating the posts of Sepoy and Hawaldar of the FBR.

According to details given by sources of the Model Customs Collectorate (MCC) Islamabad that the matter has been examined at length and it has been observed that the introduction of job of Hawaldar BS-7 and sepoy BS-5 of the FBR has been enhanced due to introduction of latest technology equipments and like scanners, CCTV cameras and hand-held search equipments.
The sources told CT that, due to changing environment, the proposed upgradation of post of Hawaldar from BS-07 to BS-09 and Sepoy from BS-05 to BS-07 meets the criteria for upgradation and brings uniformity of pay-scales as mentioned in sub-para (2) of para (4.2) of policy for upgradation re-designation of post of the Eastcode Edition 2015 (pp-100-102).
Talking with Customs Today, Sepoy Ghulam Rasool, President of Federal Employs Association (FEA), said the government announced upgradation of BS-7 and BS-5 of sepoys and Hawaldars of Pak-Army and Islamabad Police in 2016 while the Customs officials of said grades were not upgrated.

Sources added that there were three persons i.e Rao Nusrat from Karachi Customs, Muzafar Ali Shah from FBR and Ghulam Rasool Sepoy from MCC Islamabad who were continuously doing correspondence with the Government for enhancement of upgradation of said posts. He said the FIA officials of BS-7 and BS-5 are still waiting for upgradation of their scales from BS-7 to BS-9 and BS-5 to BS-7.
