ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) and General Administration of Customs People’s Republic of China agreed to complete the “customs online project” by June 2016, which will enhance bilateral cooperation between two countries.
The authorities of both sides during a meeting reaffirmed their commitment to finalise the project as soon as possible.
As per details, Pakistan and China have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to realise the project and also have conducted four meetings to discuss the various aspects of the project.
After launching of the project, the customs authorities of both sides will be linked to each other through online system and all clearance of import and export consignments will be made through this online system.
The system will carry all record of consignments, including type of items, weight, quantity and other necessary information that will ultimately curb the illegal trade and smuggling, besides increasing the tax collection.
