FBR collects over Rs 1,862b in 8 months with 17.1% growth

ISLAMABAD: Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has generated Rs 1862.258 billion during the eight months (July-March) of current fiscal year (2015-16) against Rs 1590.101 billion during corresponding period of last year, reflecting a growth of 17.1 percent.

According to the breakup of provisional revenue collection data, the collection of domestic taxes (direct taxes, sales tax and Federal Excise Duty) amounted to Rs 1608.556 billion during first nine months of 2015-16 against Rs 1398.797 billion in same period last fiscal, showing an improvement of 15 percent.

Direct taxes collection stood at Rs 698.692 billion during the period under review against Rs 617.157 billion in the same period last fiscal year, reflecting a growth of 13.2 percent.  Sales tax collection amounted to Rs 810.008 billion during July-March 2015-16 against Rs 690.870 billion during same period of 2014-15, showing a growth of 17.2 percent.

Sales tax collection at the import stage was Rs 444.014 billion during the period under review against Rs 374.357 billion in July-March 2014-15, showing an increase of 18.6 percent. Sales tax collection on local supplies (domestic stage) was Rs 365.994 billion during July-March 2015-16 against Rs 316.513 billion in same period 2014-15, depicting an increase of 15.6 percent.

The collection of Federal Excise Duty (FED) amounted to Rs 99.855 billion during this period against Rs 90.770 billion in same period of last fiscal, depicting a growth of 10 percent.

The customs duty collection stood at Rs 253.702 billion during July-March 2015-16 against Rs 191.304 billion during corresponding period of last fiscal year, reflecting a growth of 32.6 percent. The FBR has paid refunds and rebate of Rs 55.421 billion during July-March 2015-16 against Rs 75.372 billion in same period of last fiscal year, showing a decrease of 19.951 percent.
