FBR set to notify prices of fertilizers in retail packing

ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has taken serious notice of the high prices of fertilizers in retail packing and is considering a proposal to notify zones in this regard.

According to sources, a high level meeting was held in the FBR headquarters. The meeting was presided over by FBR Chairman Nisar Mohammad Khan, and was also attended by Member Customs Nasir Masroor Ahmad, Member Inland Revenue Policy Rehmat Ullah Khan Wazir, Member Inland Revenue Operations Dr Muhammad Irshad Khan, Member Strategic Planning and Reforms and IT Dr Muhammad Iqbal, Member Administration FBR Muhammad Majid Qureshi ,Member FATE Nausheen Javaid Amjad and Member Legal Hafiz Muhammad Ali Indhar.

During the meeting, a brief presentation was made by Member Inland  Revenue Operation Dr Muhammad Iqbal, highlighting the need for notifying zones for determination of the prices in retail packing.

The members of the board were informed that a notification on the similar lines was issued for determination of retail prices for cement which is sold in retail packing vide STGO No. 94 of 2014 on December 12, 2014. After discussion all members unanimously decided that the requisite powers may be delegated to Member Inland Revenue Operations for necessary action in this matter.
