FBR constitutes committee to conduct audit of vehicles auctions

ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has ordered an inquiry and audit of vehicles auction conducted during 2014-2021.

Chairman FBR Dr. Ashafq Ahmad has formed an Inquiry Committee headed by a well reputed BS-20 officer, Yaqoob Mako to scrutinize the auctions of confiscated vehicles and identify the irregularities if any.

An official said the inquiry would cover the period of eight collectors, including longest period of Saeed Jadoon. It may be mentioned here NAB is also doing an inquiry into auction of vehicles till 2019. Nothing against officers have been found as yet.

An official said after NAB inquiry, nearly all vehicles have been impounded with the help of police and FC. Customs stopped taking hold of NCP vehicles independently. Even FC & Army officers were invited to observe transparency in auctions after NAB inquiry.

Moreover, in camera recordings have been done of all auctions for last one year which are available with collectorate.

Sources said this inquiry was just another plot to malign certain senior officers of Pakistan Customs Service.
