FBR to take stern action against corrupt customs officials

KARACHI: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has decided to take disciplinary action against those customs officials who are found involved in any kind of mal-practicing in their duties, it is learnt here.

Sources told Customs Today that the FBR has asked all the field formation Collectorates to compile a comprehensive record of those officials whose names were reported in any kind of malpractices, adding that the FBR has decided to take stern action against them.

The sources further informed that the FBR has decided to rid the department of “blacksheep”, as the federal government is determined to make FBR free of corruption and malpractices.

Replying to a query, the sources further said that the notices have been received by the offices of all field formation Collectorates, adding that they would start compilation of performance reports of the officials from next week. The FBR has already given one month deadline to all field formation Collectorates to compile the reports and send them to the FBR Hheadquarters.
