FBR denies extension in amnesty scheme

ISLAMABAD: Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has denied to extend the date of tax amnesty scheme from June 30, 2018 and started short messaging services (SMS) via all mobile phone companies in order to make the scheme successful, it is learnt here.

Official Sources told Customs Today that FBR started sending messages through all mobile phone companies working in Pakistan and cautioned the users to submit the tax returns till June 30 which is not extendable. Meanwhile, there are 120 million mobile phone users in the country who received this message from FBR, sources added.

Sources said that the Supreme Court of Pakistan has also favored the scheme, and the Board is using the technology efficiently to make the amnesty scheme successful.

It is also important to mention here that FBR has clarified that Panama affected people can also get benefit from government announced amnesty scheme and the Board will not use this amnesty for any prosecution. However, the government employees, public officer holders and having cases in court regarding the income and assets cannot get benefits from the scheme.
