FBR detects millions of rupees tax evasion by a private school

KARACHI: Special Unit of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) started digging down the culprits involve in tax evasion.

According to the details, Regional Tax Unit III of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) reacting over an inquiry against a private school in Karachi has managed to detect the millions of rupees tax evasion by a private school.

Information was received that a taxpayer is maintain multiple accounts other than those officially declared for concealment of receipts and income. Further probe into the matter revealed that the school was running a gym on its premises and the receipts from the gym remained undeclared.

Authorization to have access under Section 175 of the ordinance was granted by the Commissioner IR Zone III, Regional Tax Office III, vide letter No CIR/ZONE-III/RTO/III/2019/1113 and the team of authorized officer visited the premises and impounded the record of accounts maintained by the said school.

After examining the record by the team it revealed that the taxpayer has concealed his income by not declaring the true value of the receipts. The tax payer has only declared one campus situated at Gulestan-e-Juhar.

Examination of the record recovered by the team also revealed that the taxpayer was also running two more campuses in Gulshan-e-Iqbal and Abu Alhasan Asfhani Campus respectively.

Legal action against the school has been taken and the administration has been asked present before the FBR office with all record including details of the paid taxes to further process
