FBR detects tax evasion by M/s Quetta Electric Supply Co, M/s Rubay Foam Industires, M/s Omar Jibran Engineering

ISLAMABAD: Federal Board of Revenue has detected three cases of non-payment of further tax and extra tax amount of Rs 565 million by three companies registered with Regional Tax Office Sialkot, Regional Tax Office Quetta and Large Taxpayer Unit Karachi including M/s Quetta Electric Supply Company, Ruby Foam Industries (Private) Limited and M/s Omar Jibran Engineering Industries Limited. Federal Board of Revenue has directed these three tax offices to initiate the legal proceedings to recover the government dues and fix the responsibility against the persons involved in scam.

According to details, three taxpayers registered with three field formations of Federal Board of Revenue made taxable supplies to the registered and non-registered persons but did not collect and pay further tax and extra tax as leviable under law. This resulted in loss to national exchequer amounting Rs.565 million.

Sources said M/S Ruby Foam Industries (Private) Limited NTN 2879680-2 registered with Regional Tax Office Sailkot did not pay further tax on taxable supply to non registered persons. This resulted loss to National Exchequer Rs.8.94 million. Likewise M/S Quetta Electrical Supply Company NTN3044052-1 registered with RTO Quetta supplied electricity to various industrial and commercial consumers but failed to show total value of sales and Sales Tax payable @ 17 percent in all sales tax returns.

However, Further Tax was paid @ 2 percent of total value of sales. This resulted in non-payment of sales tax of Rs 523.63 million. M/s Omer Jibran Engineering Industries Limited National Tax Number 0815465-1 registered with Large Taxpayer unit Karachi made taxable supplies of specified goods to unregistered persons but extra tax was not charged which resulted in non-payment of sales tax of Rs33.76 million.
