FBR directs PRAL to revise automatic audit selection system on priority basis

ISLAMABAD: Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has directed Pakistan Revenue Automation Limited (PRAL) to revise the automatic audit selection system, it is learnt here.

Official sources told Customs Today that the board has informed by its Inland Revenue Policy Wing that taxpayers are facing problems due to some faults in the software built by PRAL for the taxpayers audit selection.

Sources also told that as the board has announced to close all audits and waive the penalty for as many as 342,314 salaried individuals selected for automatic audit for late filing of tax returns in the years from 2015 to 2017 who have filed returns under Section 114 declaring only income under Section 214-E of the Income Tax Ordinance.

Sources told that now the Inland Revenue Policy wing has notified some faults and malfunctions, where the board has directed the Senior Manager Dr. Waseem to discussed the matter in a meeting with Taxpayers Audit Department and Inland Revenue Policy department and revise the automatic selection software as per recommendations and also in semblance with section 214E in order to facilitate the taxpayers for the exemption of audit selection.
