FBR educates businesses on online tax filing & compliance

ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has intensified its efforts to enhance tax awareness by guiding the business community on online tax return filing and voluntary compliance, with the aim of simplifying procedures and encouraging greater inclusion in the documented economy.

On the directions of Chairman FBR Rashid Mahmood Langrial, the Taxpayers’ Services (TPS) Wing, under the supervision of Member TPS Ms. Tehmima Aamir, organized a Tax Awareness Session at the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FPCCI), Islamabad. The session was held as part of FBR’s ongoing Tax Awareness Outreach Programme to strengthen engagement with stakeholders and improve compliance levels.

The FBR delegation was headed by Muhammad Muti-ur-Rehman Mumtaz, Secretary Tax Education and Facilitation, and included Abdul Rehman Sheikh, Second Secretary Tax Facilitation, along with other officials from the TPS Wing. Representing FPCCI were Tariq Jadoon, Vice President FPCCI, Karim Aziz Malik, Chairman/Incharge FPCCI Capital Office, and other executive members. Business representatives from various cities also participated in the session through a video link.

In his opening address, Muhammad Muti-ur-Rehman Mumtaz outlined FBR’s mandate, core functions, and key reform initiatives. This was followed by a comprehensive presentation by Abdul Rehman Sheikh, who elaborated on tax awareness measures and provided step-by-step guidance on online income tax return filing.

The interactive session witnessed active participation from the business community, with participants raising a wide range of tax-related queries that were addressed in detail by the FBR team. Attendees appreciated FBR’s proactive outreach and its commitment to promoting a culture of voluntary tax compliance. The session concluded with the exchange of souvenirs, underscoring continued collaboration between FBR and FPCCI.
