KARACHI: Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has fixed the values of white crystalline sugar both imported and domestically produced for the purpose of assessment of sales tax.
The FBR, exercising the powers conferred upon it by the first proviso to clause (46) of section 2 of the Sales Tax Act, 1990, and in supersession of its Notification No SRO 492(I)/2016, dated June 30, 2016, increased the assessable values of domestically produced white crystalline sugar to Rs60/kg compared with Rs56/kg earlier. Moreover, the assessable values of imported white crystalline sugar have been kept unchanged at $725 per metric tonne.
