FBR forms grievance redressal committee for monitoring of IR officials deployed at factories

ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has announced the formation of a grievance redressal committee to oversee the deputation of Inland Revenue (IR) officials at factories and manufacturing premises.

The committee will monitor production processes and clearances as part of its mandate under section 40B of the Sales Tax Act, 1990.

The FBR issued a notification on Friday, and the committee is set to become operational immediately.

The committee members are: Dr. Hamid Ateeq Sarwar, Member (IR-Operations) FBR; Mir Badshah Khan Wazir, Member (Legal-IR) FBR; Javed Iqbal, Chief (ST-Operations) FBR, Secretary to the Committee; Atif Ikram Sheikh, President FPCCI; Muhammad Jawed Bilwani, President of the Karachi Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KCCI); and Mian Abdurar Shad, President of Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The FBR emphasized that the committee’s role will focus on addressing grievances and reviewing the actions taken by field formations to ensure smooth implementation of section 40B of the Sales Tax Act.

This initiative is part of FBR’s ongoing efforts to streamline operations and maintain effective oversight of business premises across the country.
