FBR freezes 108 bank accounts of defaulters

KARACHI: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has frozen the bank accounts of 108 defaulters, sealed 23 properties and documents of 67 vehicles.

Sources told Customs Today that during this recovery campaign, arrest warrants for 35 people were issued. On the other hand, Broadening of Tax Department also seeks the details of 1.8 million tax defaulters and further proceedings are underway.

Sources further said that authorities already seek details of 434,000 vehicles from provincial motor vehicles registration authorities, in which 267,000 vehicles belong to Karachi, 126,0000 belong to Islamabad, 12,534 belongs to Faisalabad, 4000 from Gujranwala and 1,457 vehicles belong to Rawalpindi. Authorities have also asked for the details of companies which are manufacturing 1000CC vehicles.
