FBR has important role in country’s economy: PM

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif remarked that the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has an important role in the country’s economy.

The PM chaired a meeting on the affairs of the FBR.

The PM was briefed that the work regarding the establishment of Appellate Tribunals of Inland Revenue was started. It was told that a transparent written examination would be conducted regarding the appointment of judges in these tribunals.

The PM said that they have to work together for the development of the country. He said that he would personally preside over the weekly review meeting regarding the ongoing reforms and revenue in FBR.

The PM said that the Customs Appellate Tribunals should be established along with Inland Revenue Appellate Tribunals to deal with tax-related cases quickly.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also directed to set up a strategy regarding giving medals to FBR officers who delivered well.
