ISLAMABAD: A Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) employ has approached the Federal Service Tribunal (FST), seeking restoration of the scale-promotion ‘award’ entitled to him in recognition of his services.

The petitioner, M Iqbal Minhas, a Pakistan Customs Service (PCS) employee, submitted in the court that the post that was awarded to him in the wake of his selfless services for the customs hockey team in 2006 had been withdrawn in violation of the award rule.

He submitted that the award could not be withdrawn under any circumstances as per the award rule in the department concerned. Iqbal was awarded the post of customs inspector (in his pay and scale) by the Collectorate of Customs, Rawalpindi.

He had submitted that this award was given to him in recognition of his services for the customs hockey team and serving at sports managerial posts despite enduring a leg fracture during a hockey exercise in 1984.

He prayed the court to set aside the departmental decision of withdrawing the ‘award’ and restore it, as withdrawing it was a disgrace to the his career and services for the FBR.
