SIALKOT: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has imposed tax emergency in Gujranwala division till June 30, 2017 (end of the fiscal year 2016-2017) by cancelling the leaves of the officials concerned.
According to the senior FBR officials, the tax emergency has been declared to ensure maximum tax collection. The FBR has fixed a tax collection target of Rs 8 billion till the end of this fiscal year (June 30,2017).
The target has become a big challenge for the local senior FBR officials, saying that the fresh data to be provided by the local banks on July 1,2017 , would reveal how much this target was achieved and how could not be recovered.
The Regional Tax Directorates (RTOs) in Sialkot and Gujranwala have moved ahead as many as 30 special recovery teams head by the senior FBR officials to ensure the maximum tax collection in this regard.
The FBR officials added that all the FBR offices and concerned branches of the National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) will remain open till12:00 am (late at the mid night) on the last day of fiscal year 2016-2017(June 30,2017) to facilitate the tax payers, in this regard.
The officials added that the Gepco has also been lying a big and chronic defaulter of Rs.250 million as Income Tax and Rs.200 million as Sales Tax in Gujranwala , in this regard.
