ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has successfully integrated provincial sales tax returns into its IRIS portal, enabling taxpayers to file their federal and provincial sales tax returns seamlessly through a single platform.

According to details, the new system allows businesses to file sales tax returns for the Punjab Revenue Authority (PRA), Sindh Revenue Board (SRB), Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Revenue Authority (KPRA), and Balochistan Revenue Authority (BRA) directly via the IRIS interface.

The integration eliminates the need for separate filings with provincial tax authorities, reducing compliance burdens and ensuring improved coordination between federal and provincial tax systems.

This development is expected to streamline the return filing process, enhance transparency, and facilitate ease of doing business by providing a one-window solution for taxpayers. Officials believe it will also strengthen revenue collection and improve documentation across the country.

Industry experts have welcomed the move, noting that harmonization of sales tax administration was a long-standing demand of the business community.
