FBR Intelligence impounds vehicle valued Rs25m on tip-off

ISLAMABAD: The Directorate of Intelligence and Investigation, Federal Board of Revenue, Rawalpindi, has impounded a smuggled vehicle Toyta Land Cruiser ZX V8, Model 2015, worth Rs25 million.

According to details, Directorate received a tip-off through an informer that the said vehicle bearing registration No: SJ-470 (ICT-Islamabad) having chassis No: URJ202-4002595 (4608) is parked at Phase IV, Civic Center, Bahria Town, Islamabad.

The staff of the Directorate of Intelligence and Investigation reached the spot. In spite of hectic efforts, nobody was found claiming the ownership of vehicle. The directorate visited Police Station Lohi Bhair, CBR Town, Islamabad, and informed its incharge. The police registered an FIR No: 38 dated 17-01-2017 and visited the civic center.

The vehicle was taken into custody by the police and shifted to the HQs Office at G-10/4 Islamabad. The vehicle was impounded by the directorate staff, being unclaimed under Section 17 of the Custom Act-1969, for further verification of its import and auction status and payment of duty and taxes.
