FBR issues special audit notices to 5,500 industrial units in Gujranwala

SIALKOT: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has issued special audit notices to as many as 5,500 industrial units located in Sialkot, Narowal and Gujrat districts for their alleged involvement in tax evasion and concealing of facts.

At least 13 special teams formed by the FBR have started the pre-audit process. According to the FBR officials, the industrial units have been asked for special audit. The units have also been urged to provide all the relevant record to the visiting FBR teams.

They said that around 7,872 industrial units in Gujranwala Division have been selected for the special audit, out of which the notices have been issued to 5500 units, while the notices would be issued to rest of the 2372 units soon.

The FBR has directed the senior officials of Regional Tax office, Sialkot to ensure early audit of the industrial units, besides, the re-scrutiny of the tax returns submissions filed by the owners, exporters and importers of these units. The FBR officials said the special audit would begin within the next couple of days.

The FBR has tightened noose around the tax evaders and the audit is a main step to take action against industrial units, which were involved in tax evasion. The officials said that they will not accept any pressure to spare tax evaders whereas the teams will complete audit process according to the directions of FBR.

The FBR has declared that the audit should be completed in the limited time without any delay.FBR has said if any audit official will feel any confusion, he bring this matter in the notice of RTO.
