ISLAMABAD: The Regional Tax Office (RTO) of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has issued a tax notice of Rs 12 billion to the Islamabad Electric Supply Company (Iesco).
Sources told Customs Today that Assistant Commissioner Regional Tax Office Farrukh Amir Sayal asked the Iesco authorities to pay Rs 12 billion under the head of sales tax till May 15. It is necessary to mention here that RTO already collected this amount from consumers through electricity bills but failed to deposit the same in national kitty.
Sources said that after examining some important documents it was revealed that Iesco already made the payment of Rs222 billion, but according to RTO authorities the company is still liable to pay Rs12 billion under the head of sales tax.
