FBR issues tax notices to 3100 non-filers industrial gas consumers

MULTAN: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Regional Tax Office (RTO) has issued tax notices to almost 3100 non-filers industrial gas consumers by directing them to submit tax returns for the broadening of tax net.

According to details, FBR Regional Tax Office has obtained data of non-filers owning Industrial gas connections in the Industrial Estate and other areas of Jurisdiction through survey. Broadening of Tax Base Unit has analysed all collected data of Industrial gas consumers which were obtained from Sui Northern Gas Pipeline after scrutiny for the broadening of tax net and started stern action against non-filers by issuing them tax notices. The Regional Tax Office Multan has started action by issuing them tax notices to file their tax returns as soon as possible.

Sources told Customs Today that Regional Tax Office had issued notices under section 176 of Income Tax Ordinance, 2001 to almost 3100 industrial and commercial gas connection holders against their billings for the month of August 2019.These industrial gas consumers were found non-filers during the scrutiny of tax record.

Tax authorities of Regional Tax Office has served tax notices to non-filers and asked them to submit their tax as soon as possible otherwise stern action will be taken against them.
