ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) announced that all its offices will remain operational on February 28, despite the weekly holiday, to ensure uninterrupted collection of taxes from all taxpayers.
FBR instructions state that Local, Medium, Central, and Regional Tax Offices will follow normal hours, continuing regular activities for taxpayers submitting payments and completing official procedures.
Chief Commissioners of Inland Revenue have been directed to enforce these orders strictly, ensuring full staff presence and that all procedures for tax collection continue smoothly without disruption during the holiday.
Officials said the decision aims to meet government revenue targets by providing maximum collection opportunities, emphasizing the importance of keeping offices functional even on the weekly holiday to serve taxpayers.
The FBR further stated that staff will be available to guide and support taxpayers on the holiday, ensuring smooth processing and preventing any issues during the submission of tax payments.
Yesterday, the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) directed all commercial banks to keep selected branches open on Saturday to facilitate over-the-counter payments of government duties and taxes by taxpayers.
Designated branches, including National Bank locations handling customs collections, will remain open during specified hours to ensure smooth processing and timely completion of all government financial transactions.
Banks have been instructed to keep relevant branches operational for as long as necessary to support the Special Clearing for Government Transactions conducted by NIFT, ensuring no disruption in collections.
The central bank also directed banks to maintain uninterrupted access to internet banking, mobile applications, ATMs, and other digital platforms for the convenient online payment of government duties and taxes.
