ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has made Point of Sale (POS) system installation mandatory for shops operating within petrol pumps, while digital invoicing will not be implemented for the sale of petroleum products.

Member Operations (Inland Revenue) Muhammad Zubair gave the assurance during a meeting with a delegation of the Pakistan Petroleum Dealers Association (PPDA), which sought clarification on the applicability of digital invoicing requirements to petrol pumps.

The delegation was led by PPDA Chairman Malik Khuda Baksh and included Vice Chairmen Tariq Hassan and Anwar Kamal, Sindh Region President Ameer Khan, Karachi Region President Saeed Khan, and Shahzad Suriya.

During the meeting, Khuda Baksh explained that petroleum dealers operate as commission agents and requested clarity on whether digital invoicing requirements applied to their fuel sales.

Zubair clarified that digital invoicing would not be introduced for petroleum product sales at petrol pumps. However, shops operating within petrol pump premises would still be required to install POS systems.

Regarding lubricants, the FBR official said the department would develop a separate digitisation procedure. A designated FBR representative would coordinate with the PPDA to share the relevant details and implementation guidelines.

The meeting provided clarification on the proposed digitisation requirements affecting petroleum dealers and businesses operating within petrol pump premises.
