PESHAWAR: FBR has made tax registration mandatory for retailers in Pershawar, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa through amendments in the Sales Tax Special Procedures Rules 2007.
According to these amendments, tax registration is mandatory for retailers and big departmental stores in the country including KPK. Retailers must have the fiscal electronic sales register to issue receipts to consumers while smaller traders would pay sales tax according to utilization of electricity.
Furthermore, tax registration is mandatory for national and international chain stores, retailers having shops in air-conditioned halls, retailers having debit credit cards, retailers with previous one year’s electricity bill of Rs.0.6 million or more and those wholesalers who paid complete or small lots to the retailers immediately after the import.
FBR Peshawar sources added that these retailers will pay sales tax with fixed rate and they have to submit sales tax returns on monthly bases.
