FBR Member IR Khawaja Tanveer bars RTOs, LTUs to collect advance taxes

ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has started intensive efforts to meet the revenue collection targets of the financial year 2107-18.

Sources told Customs Today that Member Operation Inland Revenue Khawaja Tanveer Ahmed has changed the strategy of revenue collection and in this regard he directed all Regional Tax Offices (RTOs), Large Tax Payers Units (LTUs), Corporate Regional Tax Offices (CRTOs), Customs Collectorates that advance taxes should not be collected to meet the revenue collection targets because advance taxes put burdens and cause shortfall in revenue collection measures of the board.

He also directed to all field formations that bank accounts of tax defaulters should be attached with FBR for recovery the tax evaded amount and arrears. Tax friendly policy applies only on those tax payers who have good track records of tax payments.

He has also instructed to the concerned officers to adopt comprehensive measures to achieve the assigned revenue collection target. After changing the strategy Federal Board Revenue has experienced good results on the front of revenue collection.
