ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has established a new customs station at the Pak-Iran border to streamline passenger movement and handle personal baggage arriving from Iran.

As per SRO 530(I)/2026, the newly inaugurated station, named Jeerak, is located in District Panjgur. The initiative aims to improve passenger convenience and strengthen cross-border regulatory processes.

This development builds on earlier efforts to boost trade and connectivity at the Pak-Iran border. In January 2025, the government had opened a new crossing at Kohak Cheedgi in Panjgur to promote legal trade and economic activity in Balochistan.

The Jeerak customs station is expected to further facilitate regulated movement, enhance border infrastructure, and support growing trade and travel between Pakistan and Iran.

Earlier, Pakistan has granted a temporary exemption for exporters from the requirement of bank guarantees and letters of credit (LCs) for shipments to Iran and Central Asian countries, according to an official notification from the Ministry of Commerce.

The exemption will be effective from March 24 to June 21, 2026.
