FBR raises sales tax rates on high-speed diesel, kerosene

ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) notified an increase in the sales tax on high-speed diesel (HSD) and kerosene.

The FBR also increased the sales tax on light diesel oil. However, the rate of sales tax has been brought down to zero per cent on petrol.

The revenue body issued SRO 1579 (I)/2021 to notify the revised rates of sales tax on petroleum products. The FBR previously notified the sales tax rates on POL products on November 11, 2021.

According to the notification, the sales tax on petrol has been reduced to zero per cent from 1.43 per cent.

The rate of sales tax has been enhanced to 7.20 per cent from 6.75 per cent. The sales tax on supply of kerosene has been enhanced to 8.19 per cent from 6.70 per cent. Similarly, the sales tax rate on light diesel oil has been increased to 0.46 per cent from 0.2 per cent.

The government has decided to keep the prices unchanged for the consumers for the fortnight starting December 1, 2021.
